A space where research and work connect organically on a single floor

A headquarters project for Proteina, a biotech company specializing in protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis technology. As the first company in the world to commercialize 'SPID,' its proprietary platform for analyzing PPI at the single-molecule level, the core challenge of this project was to consolidate research infrastructure spanning the entire drug-development cycle onto one floor. The roughly 290-pyeong space was planned by dividing it into a research zone and a work zone, and research facilities that must be strictly separated by function—such as the GCLP laboratory, animal cell culture room, cold room, in-house research institute, and instrument development room—were built to standard. Each laboratory is equipped with dedicated environmental systems for contamination prevention and temperature and humidity control, and the cold room and cell culture room employ independent HVAC plans. The circulation between the research zone and the work area is clearly separated, while the two areas are composed so that they connect naturally within a single floor.
