Paper, Brush, Ink, and Wit _ A space that begins with the Four Friends of the Study, between tradition and kitsch

A space manual project for Munbojang. This is the space manual project for the first permanent store of 'Munbojang (文寶藏),' Kyobo Bookstore's specialty stationery brand. Through collaboration with a branding firm, we brought a long-dormant brand name to the forefront and newly established the spatial identity. The counter was designed as Munbojang's signature form, taking the hexagonal and octagonal shapes of the traditional Korean soban as its basic structure, and it was planned to serve both as a functional convenience allowing entry from multiple angles and as a photo zone. The entire space is based on dark wood, while the brand's sub-colors—orange, green, and blue—are incorporated as accents, adding a kitschy, distinctive image on top of the traditional atmosphere. Carefully tuning the color scheme so that it would blend naturally with the existing color environment of Kyobo Bookstore's shelves was the core task of this project.
