Trust Begins with Space: 5 Investment Firm Office Designs
Author · SPACEBASE

Private equity (PE), venture capital (VC), accelerators (AC). For these firms, their space carries meaning well beyond a simple office. It is a strategic space that conveys each company's distinct philosophy, values, and credibility. An "investment firm" doesn't have to mean a stiff, rigid office. Take a look at the investment firm office designs SPACEBASE has brought to life across a rich range of moods.

3 Core Design Strategies for an Investment Firm Office

1\. The Founding Year Is the Starting Point of Spatial Strategy
If you're struggling to set the direction of an office space, pay attention to the founding year. For a company with a long track record, you can build a design strategy that emphasizes heritage and stability; for a newer company, one that emphasizes flexibility and openness. The founding year becomes the starting point for your branding, materials, and tone-and-mood strategy.
2\. Translating Investment Philosophy into Visual Language
An intimate partnership is expressed through rounded furniture and a welcoming lounge, while systematic company building reveals its identity through a precise grid system. SPACEBASE's spatial design is the process of translating an investment firm's philosophy into visual language.
3\. Strategic Use of Brand Color
You can bring the brand colors used in a logo into the space as well. A deep blue that signals expertise and trust, a refined and seasoned beige. Colors that surface naturally throughout the space reinforce the company's image.
Case 1. UTC Investment

38 Years of Heritage, Built Up in Layers of Material
background
UTC Investment is a pioneer among private equity (PE) firms, founded in 1988. The space needed to capture the capital stability and prudent investment capability that come from a long track record. If we summarized the company's identity in a single phrase, it would be "the enduring powerhouse." What kind of design could effectively convey trust and heritage?

design
SPACEBASE found the answer in the layering of materials. Stacking materials of differing textures becomes a metaphor for the heritage a company has built up over a long span of time. The rich layering of materials completes a sense of visual depth and dignity in its own right.

A clean symmetrical structure is a design element that visually conveys the company's stability. By designing weighty materials into a symmetrical layout, the space lets you feel prudence and trust. The subtly placed indirect lighting reinforces a refined and dignified corporate image.
Case 2. Capstone Partners

Seasoned Insight That Pierces to the Essence Within a Refined Space
background
Capstone Partners, a first-generation venture capital (VC) firm founded in 2008, holds the deep discernment and rich insight needed to uncover unicorns. It was important to convey both the seasoned experience of leading investment in innovative startups and a sense of being on-trend at the same time. How can a space let you feel the clear, deep discernment that pierces to the essence?

design
A minimal, white-based space reveals the professional precision of those who pursue extreme cleanliness and order. In particular, the faint blue mixed into the white adds a sense of expertise.
By stripping away unnecessary ornamentation and emphasizing clean tones and refined lines, the space conveys a sophisticated image. The sharp insight that sees through to the essence, even amid countless projects, aligns perfectly with the well-ordered space.

The blue accent added over the clean base embodies trust and a forward-driving spirit. The witty typography found throughout the space creates the space of a leader who is trendy and refined rather than authoritarian. What emerges is not a heavy, rigid image, but the figure of a trendy expert who moves quickly to keep pace with change.
Case 3. FuturePlay

A Space of Innovation Drawn Out Through Oriental Modernity
background
FuturePlay is a deep-tech-based accelerator (AC) and company builder that creates innovative startups. It sought to show its technology-driven, precise design and systematic incubation system through spatial design. What should the space of an insightful company that aspires to innovation look like?

design
"Oriental modernity" is a design strategy meant to convey precision, careful insight, and sustainable innovation. The physical quality of wood and a calm color palette reveal a gravitas alongside an oriental tonality. Through lines that connect and accumulate, you can sense the depth of insight.

A precise grid system, like a lattice-patterned frame, was designed as an element symbolizing the precision of handling innovative technology and the systematic structure of a company builder. Together with achromatic tones, FuturePlay's distinctive modernity is realized within the space.
Case 4. Ascendo Ventures

A Design of Hospitality That Steps Closer as Your Nearest Companion
background
Ascendo Ventures, a venture capital (VC) firm, emphasizes a partnership of growing together. It pursues an investment philosophy of communicating with founders within a 45-minute distance. With that in mind, it was crucial to create a welcoming ambience in the space that would close the distance between partner and founder.

design
Lounge furniture is the most essential element in conveying an ambience of hospitality. A lounge placed near the entrance lowers the psychological threshold and creates a relaxed ambience. The furniture arranged as a welcome lounge was designed in rounded forms to close the sense of distance and encourage human exchange.

The rounded sense of form is applied throughout the space, conveying a soft and approachable image. Within the welcoming ambience, a relationship forms that draws close rather than staying formal and stiff. Deep blue, the brand color, is also used as the identity of the space, further emphasizing expertise and trust.
Case 5. Krew Capital

A Global Loft Where Inspiration Is Exchanged
background
Krew Capital, a US-based venture capital (VC) firm, holds the identity of a "borderless connector" and "global operator" that drives global innovation. Its global-first orientation, bridging the US and Korea, stands out. A flexible partnership of growing together, centered on partners who are themselves former founders, is also characteristic.

design
Krew Capital's office was designed as an open shared space where ventures stay together. It's a kind of hideout where they actively exchange inspiration and grow together. The open loft sensibility created by the high exposed ceiling and large windows on three sides clearly reveals the identity of the space.

The white frames and exposed ceiling add a touch of industrial design, conveying the image of a young, agile digital hub. The space, alive with exchange, evokes the image of the krew growing together. The long, continuous work table effectively heightens the impact of that exchange.
The 5 investment firm offices we've explored each carry their own distinct tone, mood, and design. Just as investment firms hold a diversity of characters and philosophies, an investment firm's office calls for its own distinct strategy. An office space is the most powerful tool for conveying a company's philosophy and values. Go beyond a merely functional space made only for work, and experience the process of translating a company's values into the language of design.
